The coronavirus is no stranger, due to the new circumstances of
workspace environments, employees who are working remotely have been handed
‘employee agility’, which was once a trend and is now reality.
Some offices have been closed, and some offices have been working
remotely. No one knows when this will come to an end and no one has the answers
to what the future will hold and the only way to move forward with this
situation is planning for the future and being ready for as many scenarios as
possible.
With every negative situation, unfolds something positive and if
you are not able to identify this you may be missing a great opportunity to
learn, grow or even take advantage of the current situation.
What does it mean to be agile?
Agile working is
the ability of a firm to encourage employees to work when, how and where they
please to. They are granted with flexibility in order to improve their
performance by allowing them to work in the best environment for them.
“Agile working is about
bringing people, processes, connectivity and technology, time and place
together to find the most appropriate and effective way of working to carry out
a particular task. …….“
Employee agility
is not just about giving employees the ability to work remotely. It is not only
a matter of location or whereabouts but the incorporation of technology.
Main benefits when adapting to an ‘Agile Work Environment’?
1. Improves employee collaboration
Employee collaboration is improved through
technology. Technology allows employees to interact no matter where they are,
there is no importance to which employees are physically present and which
employees are virtually present since they are able to interact in the same way
by using technology.
2.
Work life balance
Employee work-life
balance is extremely important to implement in workplace environments.
Employees need to feel a sense of control which results in greater
productivity. With this said handing employees the ability to be agile allows
them to work when, where and how they like, on condition that they work in
accordance.
3. Reduced office costs
This is simple since when employees are able to work from home,
they are not taking up space and therefore there are less seats needed thus
reducing costs.
POC’s solution gives
medium to large corporation’s the ability to make workspace simulations of how
they want their offices to look & make changes “on the fly”. Employees are
given freedom of being agile and a sense of control while at the same time our
platform allows you as a manager to be in control of your workspace at any
given time. Sometimes agility will be a choice and sometimes like now it is not
a choice and is a forced reality. However, this is something everyone could
positively learn from and adopt.
This corona outbreak is just one of the many
obstacle’s businesses will need to face in the future of workspace management.
Technology is the future and being present virtually is the reality. Another
crisis will come, and obstacles will need to be faced, all there is to do is
think ahead, think for the future and keep up with technology, in other words
adopting agility into your workspace and utilizing your space to its full
potential.
