Is a PIR sensor or an optical sensor better for my workspace?
Asked 2 years ago
Hi there. I'm the owner of a medium-sized IT company where most of my employees work remotely and I'm looking to invest in office sensors because I've heard they increase efficiency. Optical sensors and PIR sensors are the most commonly used, but I'm not sure which one will be best suited to my business needs. Does anyone have any insights?

Optical sensors are primarily beneficial for larger companies with hundreds or thousands of employees. In your case, where the majority of your employees work remotely, buying optical sensors may be an unnecessary cost as PIR sensors are much cheaper and get the job done. Just keep in mind that optical sensors offer much more valuable insight, including employee experience, optimization for space design, and a true understanding of your space use. PIR sensors only offer basic workplace data, so your choice will depend on your budget and what you want to get out of the sensors.
