How to ergonomically optimize a workspace?
Asked 2 years ago
As an HR professional, it's my job to ensure that our company's employees have a safe and healthy workplace, but lately I've received some complaints about discomfort and pain related to working at a desk all day. I'm concerned that our new workspace setup may not be adequately ergonomic. Can someone provide some guidance on how we can optimize the desks and equipment for our employees?

Making your workplace ergonomically optimized is incredibly beneficial for the long-term health of your employees, not to mention that it improves short-term employee productivity and concentration. So, let's go over the essentials:
- Provide ergonomic office chairs: Modern office chairs have comfortable cushions, armrests, and lumbar support, in addition to being incredibly adjustable.
- Consider getting adjustable monitors: Keep in mind that monitors should be approximately an arm's length away from the employee's eyes. Still, this is a matter of personal preference, so having adjustable montiors will ensure that they cater to every employee's needs.
- Have designated rest areas: Sitting for too long is unhealthy, regardless of how ergonomic the office setup is. So, consider providing a place where your employees can rest in between breaks.
