How do I measure the density of an office space?
Asked 2 years ago
Hi! I'm the HR manager at an accounting firm. Our marketing department has grown a lot over the past few months and we're considering investing in a larger office space for this department. To confirm if this is the right direction to take, I'm looking to measure the density of the office space. Does anyone know how to calculate this?

You can calculate the density of an office space like this:
Number of people in the office / Total square feet
So, if you've got an office space of 1,000 square feet and 10 employees, you'd have 100 square feet per employee. Generally, 80 to 150 square feet per employee is considered rather dense, while more than 250 square feet per employee is considered spacious.
