What is the difference between hot desking and hoteling?
Asked 2 years ago
Hey, I have been looking into how we can employ more people without expanding our workspace. In my search, I have seen both the terms "hot desking" and "hotelling". What are the differences between these terms? And which is most beneficial for a new startup company? TYIA

Hot desking is a workplace strategy that involves employees sharing a common workspace but working independently. This means that each person is assigned or can choose their own desk on a "first-come, first-served" basis.
On the other hand, "hoteling" is a more flexible option, as it allows employees to reserve their work area ahead of time, with the ability to select from predetermined areas or even book an entire office. For new startups, hot desking may be a more cost-effective and suitable solution. Hotelling can be great for established companies and teams of 3-4 people that require more specific spaces for collaboration and long-term projects.
